Vicki, it started with curling soft rear hooves but now seems to be a larger area. She is an alpine/togg 3year old with first set of twins. They are now 11 weeks old. Want to wean them so I'm not feeding her grain. Any sugestions other than getting kids off. Would kopertox benefit?
Any protein supplements that wouldn't increase milk?
Linda

Linda, does she have shallow heels or is this the whole hoof. Did you know that the hooves and horns of goats is protein? If her diet is lacking in protein than she can't grow these adequatly. What is the protein in your feed coming from? Not just what the tag tells you, but what is listed as protein on the bag. Did you know that goats do not assimilate animal by products like fish and feather meal as protein like hogs do? If your tag says animal by products, animal protein or animal fat, you may not be feeding your doe adequate protein. Vicki McGaugh
