: Victoria I hope you get some info on the feet. I have a 3 year old doe that has soft nails and almost disappearing pads. I'm upset and can't get any info. It looks awful. Vet says treat with Kopertox. Not much help. Please share any ideas you get. This is the does first set of kids. Is it nutrition, stress, or a mystery? I need help and a new vet I think.

Hi, you don't say if the feet are rotten, or with black slime, stinky, etc. If so then you need to keep them really clean and if it looks like the infection is deeper she will probably need antibiotics - does she have a fever? Does she act like the feet hurt? You can't likely go wrong washing the feet with hydrogen peroxide - you know, the 49 cent per bottle stuff. When we had horses with a hoof abcess we would soak the foot in peroxide. It helps introduce oxygen into areas which don't usually get air to them. Many of the bad germs do not thrive in an oxygen rich environment. Also the soak help loosen and get rid of any funky stuff.

If THERE IS NO STINK, BLACK GUNK, INFECTION ETC. then I would definitely look to the diet. Good luck!!!
