Well, today I "milked" out that inflamed half of her udder and got out two "cottage cheese chunks" and then 1/2 a cup of amber fluid. I saved an ounce or two for sampling. After I relieved some pressure, and got most of the fluid, I infused the teat, massaged the medicine about and put her in a clean, well bedded stall. I'll most likely give her a shot of Pen G tommorow, just to be on the safe side after messing around with that teat.I'm pretty sure that she got butted in the udder from one of my other animals, as I saw them fighting hard tonight at the hay rack. Need to build a seperate pen for her tommorow so she dosn't get any more abuse.

The good thing is that I'm a student at the University of Connecticut, (ANSCI MAJOR) and have nice access to our Pathology department for mastitis testing. The only thing is that they are closed for the weekend so my little sample is waiting in my fridge till Monday.

I guess I'll cross my fingers for now, and if that half is swollen badly tommorow night, I'll try to "milk" out some more fluid, and re-infuse. Keeping her dry was an accident last year, as a breeding didn't take, and I didn't want to re-breed that late into the season. It was nice to get some condition and growth into her, but I know better now.

Thank you for the advice!
