A BIG WORD OF CAUTION---overuse of antibiotics can create serious problems. I quit keeping antibiotics on hand and using them routinly when I nearly lost a bitch to a uterine infection.I also have a human child who has a permanant ear infections because of over prescribed antibiotics.
You can create low level resistnat infections

Get into a good working realtionship with a vet. Mine will send me home with whatever he thinks I need and not charge me for the consult only the drugs. He has taught me how to take samples for testing and I try to test any stubborn infections to be sure we are using a drug that will affect it.

For me a better tactic is to do whatever I can to boost the immune system on my animals. Dr Pitcairn has a great book on holistic animal care.

Plus if you are eating meat or milk from these goats do you really want alot of drugs in their system? Just me .02
