I think you're asking what antibiotics should you have on hand in your first aid box?

Personally, I would definately always have some Penicillin G on hand. It seems to have 101 uses, and is usually a first approach at fighing an infection. I also have some LA-200 hanging around. (this stuff really stings!! I know first hand, literally!! lol). These are avalable from any livestock catalog, and are over the counter.

Hmmm, trying to think what else I have stashed in the fridge or barn.... I have milkers so I keep a teat infustion or 2 around (both the dry and lactating kind). May not be necessary with meat goats, but you never know when you may need it. Otherwise, I may have a packet or 2 of powder terramycin, or tetracycline (mostly use it on my chickens though).

The key rule to remember that there are dozens of antibiotics around, and what you use depends on what you're dealing with. Some diseases, or problems will respond better to certain drugs and many are resistant. Another problem is that hardly any drugs have goats on the label.

A really good page to check out (besides this great one!!) is: www.saanendoah.com/ go to their serious drugs page - they list almost every drug you use in the caprine industry, the dosages and withdrawls... even states wether its a good choice or not, and the hazards involved.

When in doubt, call your vet :-)
