Hope everyone answers this question for you since there are tons of "buts" with this one. First off is where you live, here in East Texas, we bred back several Nubians to kid in July. When we had boers we had several does who would breed year round, and the bucks were always happy to oblige. Someone came to visit the farm from this board this last week, and was amazed that my Nubian bucks smelled and were in rut! We had boer moms who we could breed back at 8 weeks, while they nursed 2 or 3 kids for several weeks more, and others who we had to wait several months after they weaned because they were walking skeletons nursing 2 or 3 kids! We have such a horrid summer that we simply don't want any kids born in May or June, they simply don't grow out, nursing the heat of summer, and also the parasite loads and cocci oxycyts in the pastures are at their peak. Makes for unthrifty stunted kids. As many folks as there are with goats is exactly how many different ways there is to raise your goats. That is what makes them so nice to have! Vicki
