Maryg - I just hope that the news of our misfortune can help someone else avoid what happened to us - it was awful! I've had other goat & sheep breeders tell me similar stories. Older dogs, for the most part, are set in their ways and or adapted to their environment and don't seem to adjust to change very well. I would definately go with a pup or young dog under 6 months - your chances of success are much better. And if they're raised with working parents - even better.
