We cover ours once they are baled after that nothing. They get put out in the field and what gets eaten gets eaten otherwise they use it for bedding. The goats waste it the horses waste little and the sheep just seem to eat it all. We use very little squares because of cost, storage and I have a very bad back. Lifting them causes major problems for me. This way we feed once a week or week and a half. We have tried using feeders but they seem to be more trouble than they are worth. Hope this helps
