To add to what the others have said, I would also suggest you have the phone numbers handy of a good vet and/or another experienced goatkeeper who can assist if necessary. Depending on your doe's conformation, the sire, whether she's carrying more than one kid, if she's a first freshener, etc....she may or may not need some help. Make sure you have the necessary supplies on hand, like 7% iodine to dip navels, lubricating jelly, disposable gloves, old clean towels, a clean, deeply bedded pen to put her in by herself, with a shallow water bucket. She should have a CDT vaccination about a month prior to kidding, so her kids will have the initial immunity, and she should be wormed on the day she kids. These are just some of the basics - good luck with her... gotta love those babies! ;~) Mine start the end of Feb and continue thru April. :)patty
