In meat animals to make the most of your dollars, we bred the does back after their kids were 8 weeks old. We also did this in some of our earlier dairy does, who were used as brood does only, they were never milked, just kidded and were rebred. Kept in excellent shape and without the added drian of having to milk, we were able to get lots of really nice kids, out of elderly does.

That is the one thing that you are going to find in goats, so many ways of doing the right thing! You will have to be very careful if your animals are year round breeders, when you breed a seasonal breeder 3 times, it forces you to wait for her to come back into season for the 4th go round. I would at the very least breed back a non-seasonal breeder only a few times, then giving her a normal rest. The owner is the best eye of how she is doing. Keep your nutrition high! Vicki
