I had asks my vet last year for some recipes after a bout of what he called Frothy bloat, which was caused by too much clover in the fields. He was away at the time and I used epson salts and baking soda which worked successfully at the time. But incase anything ever happened like this before I wanted the advice first so he gave me these instructions. Hope they are some help to you.

Goowitty: Use Epson Salts and Baking Soda

Clover: Frothy Bloat: Use Corn Oil - Medium Size goat, use 2 oz. Will know if it is frothy bloat if swollen high up in the left flank.

Rules of thumb for bloat:
∙ Take off green grass for a couple
of days
∙ Put on hay & water
∙ Cut out grain for a couple of days
∙ Return grain gradually

When off food: 1 ½ tsp of Baking Soda
6 tsp of regular table salt
110 mg of karo
Mix in 4 litres of water

Or: 8 tsp of corn syrup
2 tsp of salt
1 tsp of baking soda
4 litres of water

Laxative:
Adult: 6 level tsp of epson salts (6 tsp = 1 oz)
1 litre of water
Mix as a drench
Can repeat in 3 hours if necessary (will really only know if it is working after 18 hours)

Kids: 4 tsp of epson salts in above recipe

Can use 1 ½ oz of epson salts for adult goat according to table in booklet
