Greetings Nat,

I (((love))) the Togg coloring but was warned about their "aloof" or "indifferent" attitude. They are hands down my favorite color of the dairy breeds, but I knew not to go for looks alone. I knew I had to go with goaties that we'd all bond with- being it was our first experience with goats. I made the mistake of chosing color over brains with horses. This time I wasn't going to let color alone be my deciding factor.

When I took my children to the goat farm to chose kids, we wanted a little bit of everything- not just one breed. Besides a Saanen and a LaMancha, we also brought home two Togg/Ober twins. They have identical markings- but the doe is more Obie red/brown color, while my darling wether is more Togg milk-chocolate/pewter brown.

Have you ever cross-bred your Toggs with Ober's? Seems to make for a nice mix if you don't mind them being "experimentals".

I knew not to go with a Togg/LaMancha "Exper." that I handled at the barn...she seemed to want to ignore any atention given to her (nope...wasn't feeding time either).

Both our T/O experimental kids are beautifully colored and have (bottle babies) friendly personalities. The doe is more active (loves to jump on my head-though!!) and imitates everything the queen LaMancha doe does, compared to the wether. Poor little fellow is the "low man on the totem pole" in the pecking order. So, I of course give him extra attention- since I am HIS momma. He just melts my heart :o}

Okay, I'm done going gushy on Nat and y'all...
