I have found that each of our goats have their own personality. We started off with 6..3 brush mama's w/their kids. The mama's were bred with boers when we got them, so we have kids on the way too. These 6 were the funiest things I have ever seen..they HAVE to get out on the other side of the fence, and they find a way..the dont go anywhere..like this morning..I woke up looked out the window and they are all stairing up at my bedroom window!! They were not raised w/human hand so to speak, they were skittish when we got them, but we have hand fed them..so they do come up to us..but they are not lovable pets.

Then we got some more of the same kind, we have so much woods we wanted cleaned out..we wound up with a few Lamancha/Boer Mix..they are again, not hand raised. My husband brought home a brush kid who evidently weaned too soon..so we bottle fed her..and she is one of our pets. Then my husband's friend had 3 boer triplets, one was bottle fed, and we bought for my son for a pet..we took him early so my son could bottle feed him for a couple of weeks he has a wonderful temperment, his brothers on the other hand..I wouldn't call them dumb..but they are not "the brightest crayons in the box"..(smile)

My Lamancha doe, Eris she is 4-5 months old, very quiet, she doesn't make much noise and was bottle fed and held..so she is probably the most friendly of the 3 "pets" we have..she sees us comming and runs right up to us, she will come when you call her..she is just like a dog..it is funny..

Our Neubian, she is pig headed and just seemed to take over when we got her, she is the one who taught the others how to get over the fence...LOL..I have to say that so far I like the Lamacha's the best..or mine anyway..I have not really been around any others, but her sisters that were with her were all sweet, I Eris was the gentlest one there though.

You are right about one thing, you do fall inlove right away. We have a few that I am not too crazy about, and they are probably ones we will not keep..so I have made it a point not to get too close to them...Everyone in my family t hinks I am nuts, I go out and talk to all of them every day..and I swear they know exactly what you are saying, They are very stuborn animals..but I am having the time of my life with them..

I don't know if it is such a good idea to have so many different breeds, but I am sure eventually we will narrow it down,
