I don't own either breed, but have done a lot of reading on them.Pygmys are smaller and don't need as much space. However their smaller size enables them to fit through smaller spaces. Nubians would require more space and your fence would have to be higher as they are great jumpers.I seem to think that Pygmys are easier to handle as they are more calm while Nubians are more hyper. Also it would take longer for the pygmys to eat the grass than it would the Nubians. Pygmys would not eat as much grain and hay as Nubians would.Meaning less expence. As for your dogs I think in time they would come to accept each other. At first your dogs might chase the goats.(Try not to let them do this as it would be quite stressful.)The goats might try to butt the dogs with their heads if they think thatthey are being threatened. If you get Nubians that are allready grown(Which I do not recomend.)they might hurt the dogs if they butt them.Pygmys however really wouldn't be a problem.
Here are some of the good and not so good things about the two breeds you might want to thing about.I do recomend that you get kids(baby goats)and not adults no matter what breed you get. That way they will be less likly to hurt the dogs, and they will get more attached to you than would a grown goat who is use to a differant owner. I so think it is a good idea to get at least 2 goats. That way the two will have each other as buddies. Ifyouwantmycomplete opinion(is that how you spell it?)I would go with the pygmys for a begginer. I think that they would be easier to handle. But like I said I don't own either breed. I own the Boer breed and that's what I'm sticking with.Gooood Luck! Red P.S. Sorry some of the words ran together my computer is acting up.
