Personally, I prefer the hay that won't make your bank account run dry, but is a good high quality all in one. LOL... VBG....

I feed my boys and gals a fine orchard grass 1st or 2nd cut. The lactating does I try to give a special Alfalfa "bale" called "Dengie" (any horse people out there should know this stuff). Its a plastic wrapped 40# chopped alfalfa bale that is cured almost like haylage....but dryer. Almost looks like molasses covered hay. (sure is candy to them!) It sure keeps the does milking well, and everyone LOVES it as a treat.

Any hay that dosnt' get wasted, is a good hay in my book. Even getting some outside bales, my guys seem to dive into coarse stuff, they'll eat our own made hay... basicly anything in reach goes :-)
