Apparently some goats just like to chew on bark. I give hay year around because mine like to chew on it after supper. If they have plenty of browse and grass they really don't have to have it in the summer. I saw a guy paint the trees he didn't want his goats to mess with about as high as a goat can reach standing on their hind feet with a paint he made from barnyard lime and water. They never touched a one he painted, might be easier than fixing fence, especially if there is just one tree to be painted.
