We were on the subject of canning before we had the message problem and I can't get the archive search to find it so.....I will restart it. Sherry had posted that you need to use 'hot lids' and boil it gently for an hour(?) How do you make 'hot lids'? Do you boil them? DO I need new lids each time? I assume I put the collars on as well before I start the boiling.

How fresh does the milk have to be? Can I do a couple days worth at a time or do I need to can it the same day it comes out of the goats?

I am out of freezer and cupboard space and if I can stockpile enough milk I will let my Oberhasli dry off (if I can't get her to start gaining weight)

Thanks!
