A sad story
Midwest Buck Sale Jolly German Jams and Jellies

I have two horses and a mule and 40 goats. My mule and horses have warded off several dog attacks in the past. I live in the Houston area and although I didn't get my house flooded by Allison, I did get a yard and pasture full of flood water. Last night, my mule died. (Millie) has always been real standoffish and so I didn't think anything of it. Well, this week, she started standing off to herself and not eating. We wormed her, and gave her an injection for pnemnonia. And yesterday, all she did was lay around. Me and my husband got her to get up and walk to a stall from out in the pasture. In walking her up to the stall, I noticed her hoof and leg was caked with blood. We got her in the stall and she wouldn't eat or drink. I told my husband maybe it was tetnus, and to call the vet. He did, and by the time Doc Williams called back, Millie was gone. The doc said that it was tetnus. That he had a lot of horses die due to tetnus during the flood.
Millie never was much on people, so we weren't able to pet her, just give her "goodies" by stretching out our hand as far as it would go. She was a part of our extended family for 6 1/2 years. She was given to us because she was left in this pasture and noone took care of her. This is why she was so standoffish, but she was a character. She loved my goats and would protect them and she would stand by the stall just looking at the kids that would be born. I guess this is kind of a tribute to Millie. She will be truly missed. Thank you for listening.
