We have 3 bottle feds, and I definatly see what you mean about being alot easier to handle when they become adults. Most of our adults have gotten away from being skittish as we hand fed them alot when we got them. but we do have a few that will keep their distance. Also they seem to be more stuborn!!

One of our Boer kids is one of triplets, We have all 3, but Nicholas, the one who was bottle fed, could not feed off of his mother. The other two we did not get until they were wheened, but we got Nicholas early so my son could bottle feed him. The person we got him from was feeding him regular 2% milk and told us to do the same, and we also fed our other two bottle feds 2% milk. ofcourse they were a few weeks old already when we got them. Anyway, Nicholas is a lot smaller than his brothers, is that normal with a bottle fed. are they not as hardy?

Also I have one more question (sorry about the 20 questions, I just want to make sure I am doing it right (smile)..if for some reason I do have to take a baby away and bottle feed at birth, I thought I read somewhere that they have to have their mothers milk or colostrum for their first feeding. Can you buy this colostrum in the feed store, and is this the case? And is it just the first feeding, or does it have to be for a while before they can go on whole or 2% milk?
