Sid,

What region of Ohio are you in?

I find that your comments ring true for us, in South East Ohio. There were no dairy goat breeders in my county, when I began to ask around. The extension office, nor the vets knew anyone. If fact the vet suggested I go to a livestock auction to get one-aaarrgghh! The vet's are terrific folks- but I found out quick that they give confused info. They did point me to a wonderful mentor though... I am SO thankful for her! She is So excited to see dairy goats back in the county fair.

When I tell people we are raising goats they screw up their faces and ask why? Even my In-laws were pessimistic at first. But now love to come over and watch our four play.

FWIW, I had a hard time finding purina kid milk replacer too! I can find purina goat chow.

WendyH
