How long does it take a buck to look like a buck, and ?

I will be getting my first goats in about a week and I'm getting a little doe and a buck. The buck will be fixed or whatever you call it in a couple months. I have a couple questions: Which is the best way to do that? Take to the vet and get it done or tie the rubber band? I will be having someone else do it either way as I would like someone with experience to do it... With my first one I will definetly get the boy fixed, but for my next purchase I was thinking it would be really neat to have a buck and get him fixed after he grows his beard as I think they look really cool. Once I fix him though will he still have his beard or does that go away after fixing and does this make any sense to do or would it be better not to mess with him after a year or two. I guess the reason I don't want to keep a buck a buck is because they stink and I don't want to have to keep him separate from the others, but I just like the way they look and wondered if I could do that...Probably kind of a dumb question.....If anyone could answer those two questions I would appreciate it..Thanks, Taelor
