hair loss

Amber Waves Pygmy Goats Cobalt SUlfate

Several weeks ago I wrote in about our boer wether that had a red spot under his shoulder with hair loss. I had a local goat expert and the vet. check him out. Neither thought it was ringworm and we used a surgical soap vet scrub because he was intended for meat and most topicals have limitations for meat animals. This stuff worked great as well as a natural collagen gel and he was good for the fair and is now gone from the farm. I have two nubian 6 mo. old does who went to the fair and came home. The week before we left we slick sheared and the next night she had a spot on her hip about dime sized that was pretty much hairless. Well, she, her stallmate and the boer who was stalled next door and pens were divided by a gate decided they would take the gate off its hinges that next day when we were out of town and when we came home here was this spot. Thought it was related to the playing around. She was fine while at the fair and hair started coming back in, no redness at the site and she passed the vet check. Since coming home the hairless site has enlarged although new hair has started back in at the orginal site and she has sprung a new spot on her shoulder, nickel size, same side as the spot on the rear hip. I started using fungisan antiseptic/fungicide topical last night. Any other thoughts about this? Does it sound like ringworm? Our other girl has been ok so far. No signs of thinning and she is a thick coated little gal. Marymc
