When ever my girls look a "little off" I use a 5 gram dose of probios to start and I have also found that the old Vet. Rx. available in alot of livestock catalogues helps with stuffy noses. We had a wether from April to just last week and I gave him fortified Vitamin B complex for animals, 2 to 3 cc's by mouth on a weekly basis with a dose of probios. He was wormy and had a cough with a snotty nose for the first 5 weeks we had him but after a round of Baytril and Nuflor and the vitamins and probios he really did an about face for us. I also wormed every 21 days primarily with Valbazen, once with Ivermectin (both) orally but you have to watch slaughter withdrawals on the ivermectin but this would probably not be important in this case. On the Valbazen I either doubled the dose or gave 1.5X the cattle dose and doubled the cattle dose on the Ivermectin. I think that Vicki is probably the best resource for the wormer and I have followed her recommendations as well as a local dairy goat breeder of 20 years who is my neighbor and breeder of our 2 gals. They also need good free choice minerals that has copper in it and free choice baking soda. Hope they get better. We have had some rounds of snotty noses on and off all summer. They were better in the hotter weather, with the cool nights and weather changes they get worse. What color is the snotty nose? This is important. Remember a goats normal temp. is not that of a human. Good luck with your group. Do you have a vet. that knows goats in your area? May be time for a consult. Mary Mc
