Hi Taelor! We have had goats for about 3 years now. Our first goat we had done surgically because he was too old to band. Our second one we had banded. I would have to suggest that you band. Ramsey, the one we had done surgically, was sore for 4-5 days. You could tell he was uncortable. Zeke, the one we had banded, was sore the first day or two and then he was fine. Banding is also a lot cheaper than surgery. The one thing you have to watch with banding is that the flys don't bother him too bad. Other than that I think its less stressful for the goat and it's not as painful. Of course you should always remember that the younger you have castrating done the easier it is on the animal. Hope this was of some help. Good Luck! :-)
