I not sure if it was a snake bite. I found the kid about 4pm today--one leg was swollen and he was not putting any weight on it, he also appeared to be having muscle spasms, was continually crying which changed to screaming when the leg was touched, it also looks like there might be a bite of some sort near the hoof. I gave him the penicillin/ctm/dexametasone IM. Called the vet he said to give him some benadryl. I did. He has calmed down alot, he has been nursing and he has started putting weight on the leg. Maybe it was an insect bite. We have had goats stung by wasp and hornets but they never had such a severe reaction. Thanks for you'll help. I'd like to read that article goatmom talk about. Is it listed in the goatworld articles? I couldn't find anything about snake bites awhile ago, but I'll look again.
