Encysted worms are like arrested larve. As you worm the mother worms :) put their babies to sleep in your goats system, the wormer at normal dosages, or god forbid, wrong dosages, has no effect on these worms. They build in numbers and migrate to the jaw, this causes fluid build up, which is worse at night after the doe has grazed head down in the pasture. Here is a great site for what bottle jaw looks like, click on the "Are you goats showing symptoms of bottle jaw"

http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/2178/worms.shtml

I think this is also the site that has the signs of anemia, look at the dramatic look under the tail of the goat with anemia!

Aggressive worming will get rid of this. I don't think its a wattle cyst since it is to mushy looking. This is really not what CL looks like, it is more like a golf to softball size swelling that is attached feeling to the body.

Nat, Holly is great, forward her a picture and an email, and ask her what she thinks! She is the one who has done the site. Vicki
