I'm usually not one to talk about animals passing but this is a special, sad occasion that I feel it necessary.
We found our pregnant female, Great Pyrenees "Angel" dead this morning in the goat pen. She was due to deliver this week and it appears she may have aborted and perhaps one of the unborn pups is still inside. I haven't yet felt like doing the autopsy as it came as kind of a shock. I know I'll get over it but my wife Pam is not taking it so easily.
Instead of writing back any sympathy posts to me at the Message Forum if you feel so inclined, could you please write to Pam privately at:
firstname.lastname@example.org? I think it would help lift her out of the funk she is in.
It's always a sad shame when something like this happens but I've pretty much become accustomed to expecting the unexpected. We've had Angel close to three years and last year she had her first litter of nine pups - no problems. I'm not sure what it was this year but it just was not meant to be. I know Pam feels terrible and while she's not blaming me for it per se, I still feel like a dirty b for not being able to do anything about it and for becoming rather numbed to one of our animals passing. It never gets an easier losing anything, but like those nasty old worms, you sort of build up an immunity to the emotions involved in something like this.
Well, thank you for letting me vent a little. Hope you are all having a nice weekend otherwise.
