Alfalfa is good as long as they have some good grass hay to go along with it. My babies get alfalfa and grass hay until they are old enough to put in with the grown does and they get grass hay only because they have a nice browse pasture. I do feed alfalfa pellets to the does I'm milking to help them out with their production.

If the little ones you're keeping are males, I wouldn't feed alfalfa to them. It can cause urinary calculi (you can find out more about that in the GoatWorld Articles or just about anywhere on the forum!).

Goats are browsers, meaning they like to eat your rose bushes and the bark off the trees as opposed to lush green grass! Keeping hay out for them will make sure they get the roughage they need to keep their rumens in good working order.
