Welcome to the "new" Message Forum

Hi folks,

Thanks to everyone who has decided to continue on with the Message Forum in its new arrangement. I know that some people are miffed at the thought of having to pay anything at all but I think with time, each of us will see that it is worth it.

With his new arrangement each of us can be assured that we can discuss things more openly, yet much more privately if needed. Suddenly each and everyone of us worldwide has waken to find ourselves living in a world that has become much more security concious - and for good reason.

While it may seem trivial to take security to the extreme of password protecting a goat related Message Forum, please reflect for a moment that goats are part of an industry that provides not only provide the joy of ownership, but a product in the meat and dairy markets as well.

The world is certainly aware of bio-terrorism and there is always a possibility that the meat and dairy industry would fall under such attacks. We can just not allow ourselves to take for granted that anything is really that safe anymore.

But that is pretty much a doomsday attitude and not really what I had envisioned for the goat industry. Hopefully each of us can work together, with each other, for the good of one another, for our goats and the goat industry as a whole. Of course this is a grassroots attempt at igniting that spirit of camaraderie but I have seen each and everyone of you demonstrate that you have that spirit alive and well by your own thoughts and actions right here on the Message Forum.

In the past, I have always found that people tend to be at their best when they feel they belong to something - a club, a membership, a society. As I made the decision to close down the old forum, I realized that I was depriving many of you from something that you already felt a part of. Each of us has learned and gained from the Message Forum. I know that for myself, I still have much to learn from each of you who I call dear friends in a world of trying times. Hopefully each of you will continue to extend that spirit among each other as we continue our journey together.
