Poisonous GOATS!!

Amber Waves Pygmy Goats Kandy Treat

I thought I'd share this story so that everyone could get a chuckle or two...I might even laugh myself if I wasn't the afflicted one! As many of you may know, I recently purchased two Saanen does. We got the does primarily for their milk and companionship. But an added benefit was that they ate a lot of different types of plants, including (I had heard) poison ivy! I wasn't sure if this was true, but was thrilled at the prospect since I am highly allergic to poison ivy, oak and sumac. Well I am both happy and dismayed to report that my goats at least, do eat these plants. Why dismayed you may ask? While my wonderful girls have been so kind as to rid my property of these poisonous plants, they neglected to wash up afterwards. The plant toxins remained on their face and coats, and fifteen minutes after petting them this morning I was covered in a rash! Who knew that the GOATS could be poisonous??? :o)
