Goats and Pigs

Hi folks,

I'm wondering, have any of you ever raised your goats together with a pig? We were given a pot-belly pig a while back and had put him in with our ducks and geese to dig the duck pond deeper. That wasn't working out so we put him in with our sheep. That worked okay for awhile until he got upset with the ram and bit him in the face. So off to the goat pen he went - hoping that they would keep him at bay with their horns. So far so good. But I've been thinking about diseases and all that and wondering if it is really the best idea to keep them together.

He's not the small cuddly little pot-belly pig you see when they are babies. He's a good 100 pounds plus at least. He seems to get along with the goats okay. I actually have seen him running away from one of our horned does so I'm pretty sure he's not going to be biting at any of them. Well, I take that back, he has tried to court a couple of them for breeding but they lower their heads and show their horns and he runs away.

Ideally he'd have his own pen and pond. But living on this hill here, the only flat spot is on top of my head from banging it on the wall in thought of putting up more fences. Hopefully keeping him with the goats won't hurt anything but I just wanted to hear what the rest of you think about it.

Best regards,
