Power Shift

Hi all,

It has been a while since I've posted, I know, but despite having stayed flu-free all winter, I have gotten sick three times this past month!! Yikes!

Anyway, I thought I would just share something I found really interesting. For as long as I've had my girls ( a few months now), Aqua has been the herd queen. In the past week, though, I've noticed Eelee challenging her. We have some rock mounds in their pasture and watching them collide head to head on top of these mini-mountains reminds me of mountain goats on the Discovery Channel! Anyway, Aqua used to be "in charge" of feeding time, only allowing Eelee to eat when she was good and ready. Now, poor Aqua is having to go eat with the dog because Eelee won't let her near the food. I don't want her eating dog food, so I find myself standing out there refereeing meals!

More than anything, I find this behavior very interesting. I was of the opinion, once a herd queen, always a herd queen. This hierarchal power shift took me by surprise!
