Hi guys,
As you know I have been having abortions from toxoplasmosis this year. I had a yearling doe that was looking good. She was 150 days yesterday. I started worrrying about her because her udder started getting smaller, not bigger the closer she got to due date. I took her to my vet yesterday and she recommended inducing her. She gave her a shot of estrogen and sent me home with a shot to give her four hours later of lutylase. She said it would make her deliver withing 24-36 hours. Today, 27 hours later she delivered quads. They are tiny but apparently mighty. She had no trouble popping the little things out. I just fed them all for the second time and they all caught on really well this time and are now sleeping quietly. THere are 3 girls and a boy. I haven't weighed them yet but they must be 1 pound and up. THey can all stand and have all been passing the meconium poopies. I am so thankful for these little things. It has been a wierd spring for kids this year to say the least. This little mama doe is a yearling. It seems unusual to me for her to have quads first thing. My husband said, aren't you glad we stopped having children before we moved here? The goats have had three sets of quads since we moved here four years ago. Dalice
