Our Annual Goat Day

Amber Waves Pygmy Goats Kandy Treat

Posted by Helene on June 02, 2002 at 05:17:38:

Yesterday I took our son Wes to our Annual Goat Day here in town. Last year there were so many goats, and people there, this year for some reason they did little to no advertising, and were a lot less goats and people and booths, but we still had a good time. Mike and our older son had to work, and our younger son went to a birthday party, so it was just me and Wes, we really enjoyed ourselves.

I didn't take any money with me, cause I know I would have probably wanted to buy one of everything (smile)..

I saw a pair of black LaMancha twins, they were so adorable, they were about 3 months old or so, and now I JUST have to have a black one!! I also saw a white LaMancha, with waddles, I have never seen a LaMancha with waddles before, has anyone else? She didn't seem like she was a cross, because any cross I have seen had little mini ears, this one had none. As I said, not that many goats there, mostly Boers, Kiko's and Newbians. There were also several Boer crosses, and the few Manchies.

If we would have known about it sooner, Wes wanted to take his little guy and show him. By the way, he finally decided on a name for him, Patrick. Speaking of Patrick, Bobby we saw a little Nigerian Dwarf that looked just like your Patrick, Wes wanted to take him home too! See why I didn't bring any money w/me..LOL.I would have came home with the two black manchies, the nigerian dwarf and probably the white manchi w/waddles..LOL..Mike would have freaked out as we would have wound up with a whole herd of "earless goats"..LOL..

Well nothing new to report here, except it is soo hot out!! Everyone is healthy and happy and I have started doing some early canning. I am thinking time to shave the goats, the poor guys they are sweating!
