You can check the www.fiascofarm.com website for signs of approaching kidding, including reading the tail ligaments. Don't milk her to check for flow this destroys the natural waxy plug that helps prevent mastitis until she has babies regularly nursing. I have noticed most that an already fairly large bag will get much bigger, there is often a thick white discharge at the vulva (this is the mucus plug and can be passed 3 to 4 weeks to right before birth). The doe can become restless, separate herself from the herd, she may make little bleats that I call baby talking as the first mild contractions start. Accurately reading the tail ligaments is one of the most acccurate predictors of when kidding will happen.

Since you don't know the breeding date it is very hard to say when she will kid. Many does are very secretive about this and some can actually delay labor for several hours or even a day or so until they are alone and comfortable.

maggie, we noticed today one of our does is somewhat has a swollen vulva, her milk bag is quite large, and she seems like she does not know what she wants, she has had babies before, but not since we have had her, we have had her for about 6 months, but we are not sure of her actual due date. Her sides are quite large and rounded, no bloody or discharge yet. She has a steady flow of milk. Just wanted to know about how long we have, can't remember about checking back at the tail. The last time we had a baby, I wrote you and the baby was delivered early morning and did not make it. And the time before that was almost 2 years ago, and things went fine. Thank you again for all of your help, we really do appreciate it.
