Do you have a temperature on him? It sounds like pneumonia or at least an upper respiratory infection. Do let him rest he needs to conserve his strength. So long as he gets up 4 or 5 times a day and walks alittle he will be okay.

Check his lower inner eyelids for color too. They should be bright rosy or salmon pink.

He is probably very prone to infection because he did not get the colostrum he needed. If he is closer to 3 months old he is just developing an immune system and already it is being heavily challenged.

You are not giving the penicillin often enough to do any good. For goats the dose is 1 cc per 20 pounds (give at least 1 cc) by SQ injection TWICE A DAY, for at least 5 days. Penicillin is not very effective anymore there is alot of resistant bacteria, but if its what you have use it, just give it at the correct dose. If you have Naxcel give that at 1 cc per 50 pounds by SQ injection twice a day for at least 5 days. Or you might switch to Tylan 200 at 1 cc per 20 pounds by SQ injection once a day for at least 5 days.

The Dumor (sheep and) goat mineral at Tractor Supply does not have enough copper for goats (it actually has NO copper at all). Check the loose cattle mineral to be sure it has at least 900 to 1500 ppm copper.

Dear Maggie
Sorry to bother you on a Sunday, but we have a problem with a young Kid.We got him (young buck )from some people we know awhile back. The story was,his mother would not claim him as far as not letting him nurse. We don't know but are assuming he was bottle fed,but again not sure...On to the problem.
He is between 3-6 months old.He has been eating hay,but not alot.Drinks, but not alot.Non-sociable with the other goats, and seems to want to be held alot.Bowel movement is ok,and urinates ok,but frequent...Since Friday has been coughing and for a lack of better words is Raspie. When he "bays"it is broken and rough...Also occaisional clear runnie nose and weak.Wants to lay alot, but we don't let him because of the Tendon thing...
Jan just left for TSC.to get the loose mineral you talked to someone else about, and Ivomec. She is also going to the store to get the stuff to make your "magic".We gave him Penicilian Friday, and then again today. The only other thing I can add is that they are all just getting over Pinkeye. He,however has been over it for about a week. The last one is almost cleared up,at least to where he can see.Don't know what to do.We have him in the house, and just now while I was writing,he started across the room and dropped to his knees on his front legs, and it seemed like he couldn't get back up on his own...He just did it again.
any Ideas????No vets available today
Thanks,Dave.
