Always better to go a little over. Underdosing does more harm than good, leaving the resistant bacteria to reproduce. Here is a formula for figuring weight, it works on almost all animals. Using a measuring tape or a string:
Measure in inches the heartgirth (around the body just behind the front legs)
Measure in inches the length of the body from the point of the shoulder at the chest to the pinbones at the base of the tail.
multiply:
heartgirth x heartgirth x length of body then
divide by 300 for the weight in pounds.

Pertaining to the same goat, Gertrude, with mastitis, we're unsure about her weight so is it better to overdose or underdose on the oxytetracycline antibiotic injection?
Thanks again!
