This is a very normal CDT injection site reaction. It should eventually go away. You didn't do anything wrong, but you might try rubbing quite vigorously over the site next time to further dispurse the vaccine. This is why alot of people who show goats use the skin very low over the ribs just behind the elbow or the brisket area for giving the CDT vaccine. Neither of these sites can be confused for being a CL lump and they are fairly inconspicuous in the showring.

I gave my 6 week old Pygmy/Nigerian Dwarf cross kid his first CD/T injection prior to applying a castration band. I gave 2cc SQ near the right front shoulder. I'm sure the needle went SQ not into the muscle, but now he has a hard lump at the site. The lump is not circular, more oblong and feels a little nodular. It does not seem to bother him or cause any discomfort. Will this eventually go away? Is this normal or did I do something wrong?
