Good advice. The mastitis intramammary treatment was probably called "Today".

Pinkeye is also spread by contact with the tears like cheek to cheek at the hay rack, feed trough or water bucket, or putting their heads through the fence in teh same hole.

I usually use the triple antibiotic eye ointment 2 times a day and give oxytetracycline injections (LA 200 or Biomycin 200) at 1 cc per 30 pounds by SQ injection once a day until the eye is clear. You can put a drop of oxytet right into the eye but my goats reacted like that stung quite a bit. The ointment was soothing. I have never found the puffer to be very effective nor giving penicillin. Do not use penicillin with the triple antibiotic ointment or with LA 200, they cancel each other out.

If you watch the other goats very carefully and begin treatment as soon as the goat is suqinting or just beginning to have a weeepy eye it will clear up alot quicker.

we have been through this and it doesn't just go away. you will have to work hard at it. use gloves , remember you can get this too. wash the goats face and around the eyes with soap water wipe down with listerine by the eyes and to clear it up try using mastitis ointment (the brad we used was new day I believe) in the eyes it will take a few days and you will have to treat her three to four rimes a day. best if she is inside. the sun tends to make it worse and if she is around the other goats the flys and bugs will spread the pink eye like wild fire. maybe the medic will have a better answer or a magic medication that will work faster and better but this worked for us.
