Thank you all I have given her some BoSE. She is still sort of weak but is getting around now as she wasn't earlier.

Make sure her body temperature is at least 100 degrees. If not bring her in and warm her in a sink of very warm water, drying with a blow dryer or on a heating pad until her body temp is up. Normal for most kids is about 102.5. If their body temp is low they may nurse but they can't stand up. If you don't have a thermometer feel inside her mouth, it should be very warm, if its cool or cold she is well below 100 degrees.

Dawn,
Are you in a selenium deficient area? There are maps you can check. If so, this baby may need selenium. It's usually available from a vet. I am in a deficient area and all my goats get Bo-Se (selenium) twice a year. My babies get it as soon as they are born. Even then, I sometimes have one who has trouble standing for the first few days. It seems to affect the back legs most, the legs will splay out to the sides. The kids are otherwise very strong and healthy.

From experience I find that kids born in very cold weather tend to appear weak and difficult at first to get them steady on their feet and nursing. When the air temp is warm the kids coming out are so much more stronger acting. I think them born into the cold is somewhat of a shock for their body especially since they are wet. I use towels and blow dryer to dry and warm them up after the mama has cleaned the baby some. I would think for your new kid it would be best to keep her warm until she is very dry and strong enough to maintain her body temp.
For weak newborns I give 1/4 cc Thiamin 250mg. IM for a 5-15lb baby, then if baby does not seem to want to nurse, I give .4 to .5 cc of 50% dextrose orally and wait about 10 minutes. That should give the kid energy and want to nurse so I help her stand at the mama's teat. First strip the teats to get the thick build up out so baby can easily draw milk.
If you use a stronger thiamin like the 500mg then may need to lower the rate. My vet said the thiamin can be given at rate of 2 times daily for 3 days. I usually just need to give a single time. If dextrose not available then you can add 2-3cc of Karo syrup to the milk you are feeding her or just mix the Karo in a little warm water and drench.

Dextrose or Karo acts as a laxitive also so do not give more than 2 time in a 24hr period.

I have a kid that was born just about 2 hours ago. She is a twin her brother weighed 3.9 pounds and she weighs 2.2 pounds. They are mini- lamancha's. She was not standing and looked like she was about gone when I got out there. I brought her in warmed her up took her back to her Mom and she nursed a little. I milked some colostrum to bottle feed her and she is taking it. She seems to be alittle better. She can't stand though. Still seems pretty weak too.
Help please. I have had really good luck with all of the kids born herre so I am at a loss.
