The disease that you "brought home" is called caseous lymphadenitis, or CL for short. It is contagious abscesses (pus filled swellings not really tumors) caused by a bacteria called Corynebacterium pseudotuberculosis (probably where you got the "tuberculosis" from). It is incurable, some goats live for years with it some don't. It depends on where the abscesses occur (they can occur internally too) and what damage they do. He will infect any sheep, cow or goat brought onto the property and the bacteria is very hardy and lives in the soil and on the buildings and fences, etc. for a very long time. Google search caseous lymphadenitis to find many articles on this disease.

Your goat may have dislocated his fetlock (ankle joint). If you can have a vet xray it and set it correctly, or put the joint back in place.

Hi,
I have a 13 year old nubian wether. I think that he make have broken his ankle but Im not sure. He was playing with my sheep and fell onto the ankle and now puts little weight on it and keeps walking on the side of his ankle instead of his hoof. I made a duct tape slpint and put vet wrap around it to hold it on. It almost seems like it is more his toe then his ankle now so If you could give me any info on what to do, that would be great.

Besides haveing an injured leg, he also has some type of sickness. We bought a young goat at a fair and he brought home somthing that killed him and my other goat off. It happend a year after we got him home also. It made them get tumors all over and get very skinny and sick then they just died. I want to say that it was tuberculouses but Im not sure if thats what it is called. Max(my goat) has lived 11 years with it and every once in awile he will loose a ton of weight but then gain it back . Any ideas on what it could be?
Thanks
