As I understand it, the Corrid cause thiamin reduction in the goat and isn't that how it treats the cocci? If this is the case, after administering the Corrid, should you wait some time to allow it to work on the cocci before administering the thiamin? Seems like if you gave the thiamin at the same time, you would cancel out the effectivness of the Corrid.

I wanted to thank yu both so much. For all the help with my little girl. She is doing allot better as of this evening. Eating real good, and out with the rest of the girls.

She must be feeling better, gave me more of a fight this time. With her dose of Sulmet. :-O

Of course in a month will see if I go threw this again. This is getting to be her normal. The past three months. If the worming and Sulmet does not cure her. Then I have no idea what to do next. Other than cull her..sniff sniff

Again thanks so much. And have a great and happy Thanksgiving.

I also like the sulmet better. I will pick up a couple doses, of Sulmet from another goat breeder. Later this morning.

After dosing her last night with the Corid plus the Vit B complex and ProBios.I started checking more of the post on this site.

This little doe had a very wet chin all day. And her tummy seemed a bit hard. So I ran down and gave her some Veg. oil and rubbed her left flank.
I heard some really loud gurgling sounds. And all of a sudden she started eating some hay. As of this morning she is eating pretty good.
But I will continue with the sulmet, just in case.

I did run a fecal on her. A few months ago, and found a overload of eggs. So I started her on a worming program of doing the worming each month for the next three months.
This schedule is precribed by my vet, for when the buck was down.

Yes all the goats have a balance mineral mix. Free choice, along with the baking soda. Also the whole herd received the Sulmet last kidding season.

Just not sure why this little gal is so sickley. You are right I will have to get some cydectin ordered.

Thanks so much for all the help.

Give her the Corrid 1x a day for 5 days but please do the thiamin also each day.
I really really prefer Albon or Sulmet for Cocci because Corrid is a Thiamin reducer.

If you are treating cocci using corid that could be her problem. Cocci has become quite resistant to corid. I like to use a sulfa drug such as Sulmet, Dimethox or Albon 12.5% drinking water solution. Usually the feed stroe will carry at lease one of these. You give straight from the bottle at 1 cc per 5 pounds for the first day and 1 cc per 10 pounds for 4 more days. The sulfa drugs aren't as bad for causing thiamin deficiency.

It is proably all right to give the Corid for a day or so until you can give to the feed store for more B Complex (for the thiamin).

A doe at this age really should have a good working immunity to cocci. Your dewormer could be losing effectiveness to and you may need to switch to cydectin at 1 cc per 20 pounds orally.

You could have any vet do a fecal exam to see what kind (if any) parasites you are battling, before throwing the medicine cabinet at her again.

A diet with adequate copper can go a long way toward parasite resistance. Does she have access toa loose mineral with at least 900 ppm copper?

Thanks Barbara

I will get her started on the Corrid this evening. Now how many times should I give this to her?
1x/day for a week?

I have the ProBios. But the feed stores are closed here on Sunday. Unless there is another way to get thiamin in her?

Now she was just in with the buck. Do I need to also start him on the corrid?

It sounds like Cocci you can give her Corrid Icc/10 lbs but you also need to give her thiamin 500mg and give her Probiosis to keep the ruminant working good.
You can give her spectam scour halt 4 pumps twice a day.

I have been having problems with my one Nubian sense I purchased her. Going on a yr now. She is standing away from the herd, and not into eating. She is drinking water now. I have this problem with her constantly. This morning I gave her 5CC Ivermec, 15mg ProBios, 30CC NutriDrench, syringes of water (just in case)
This afternoon as her usual self after worming. She had diahrea so she was then given: 5CC KeoPec, 4CC VitB complex, 5CC BioMycin.
She was just wormed about ten days ago. This treatment usually works for her. Well at least it last a month or two then back she goes again.
I only have corid for the cocci. Was not sure if maybe this is her problem? Should I give her this also? Straight from the bottle orally? And how much? Help will be really appreciated.
Deb
