The goat died, but it was not entero..... something else.
Thanks for your advice. This also has been a bad year for Floppy Kid Syndrome.

Its been a bad year for entero. Keep us informed. Sometimes giving penicllin orally helps control the bacteria in the gut that causes entero. Give 2 cc orally and try to get some antitoxin.

I do not think the vet will be able to get here fast enough.... was just wondering if I already had it.
Thanks so much for your help, this is a wonderful website. I will try to get some on hand for next time.

It is not prescription, but most feed stores don't carry it. There are several brand names.

This kid needs a vet. Entero usually kills in a couple of hours. But if you do get the antitoxin in the next hour or so give 3 to 5 cc every 4 to 6 hours. Continue the penicillin. Bring the kid in and warm him up. With the blood loss he likely needs IV fluids...

With Floppy Kid Syndrome the kid is literally a dishrag, absolutely limp. This is not Floppy Kid.

This is probably enterotoxemia, I would contact a vet ASAP as he needs CD antitoxin (this is not the vaccine). The prognosis is very poor, I have never saved a young kid with entero once it gets this far.

Please Help!!!
I have a baby goat (about 2 weeks old) who is all hunched up, has cold gums, and when I gave him an enema he passed pure blood, which makes me think no ecoli, because that is black with blood, right?
I gave him 1/2 cc Banamine SQ and 3cc Pennicillin SO thinking it was floppy kid syndrome but I don't think it is. PLEASE HELP ME!!!
