Continue supplementing the kids on bottles. There is a very good milk replacer recipe on the articles page under Kids and Kidding. Leave them with the doe so she can feed them some.

Which side is warm and hard? The side she is nursing from or the other side? If she is very full on the side she is not nursing from try milking some from that side, kids don't like to nurse from overfull udders. Letting off some of the pressure and helping the kids to nurse a few time from that side may get her started.

What are you feeding her? Most goats need some grain feed in their diets to produce milk and maintain their own body condition. Pygmies don't get big udders, they only produce as much as the kids drink, no extra. Oxytocin won't work, it only makes the doe let down the milk that is already there, it doesn't make her make more milk.

Take her temperature, normal is 101.5 to 103.5, most pygmies are about 102.5 or so. If she has a fever over 104 she may have mastitis and need antibiotics.

I have raised pygmies for 15 years feel free to call me at (919)596-0984.

Im having some problems with my pygmy goat mama.
Hope someone can give me some advice.
This is my first goat. I got home from work on Mon. night and she had delivered 2 babies. She had a leg sticking out of her. So I followed some telephone instructions to help her deliver, needless to say, I was not successful and not wanting to lose her I brought her in to the vet. He delivered the third (dead) baby. We got home and she was very upset, sore im sure and would not nurse her babies. She is butting them. So I started intermediatley bottle feeding. While still trying to hold her and let them nurse. I started tieing her up on wed. (2days after kidding) from the vets suggestion. Finally she is standing for them to nurse but only one side is producing any milk and its not much. She feels warm and kind of hard. No mucus or anything though. How do I stimulate milk? or maybe she is getting an infection? She was producing colustrum right away out of both nipples. could I give some antibiotics? would the kids still be able to nurse then? What about oxytocin? Any suggestions or help would be appreciated! I have put another call into my vet but have not heard back yet.
