"Adding Pictures To Your Messages"

As a GoatWorld member, you are allowed to post your pictures within the Message Forum to share with other members. To do so, there are only a few lines of code you must add EXACTLY to make a picture appear within your message. Using the guidelines below, follow the coding that must be added to make your picture appear. After going through the steps below, you will be able to easily add your pictures!

1) In order to add a picture, you must have it located somewhere on the Internet. Since you are a GoatWorld member, a good choice is within your GoatWorld Web Site. Upload your picture to your web site before trying to add it to your message!

2) Once your picture has been uploaded to the Internet or into your GoatWorld Web Site, your picture will have an Internet Address that can be linked to. A typical Internet Address for a picture would be:
http://www.goatworld.com/members/YOUR-SITE-NAME/YOUR-PICTURE-NAME.JPG

    Explained:

YOUR-SITE-NAME is the name you have chosen for your web site. Take a look at Sandy Logan's web site. Notice that her Internet address reads http://www.goatworld.com/members/sandylogan/ - reflecting the name of her web site in the address.

YOUR-PICTURE-NAME.JPG is the name of the picture that you are trying to add. Again using Sandy Logan's web site for an example, look at the very first picture that appears on her web page. The ADDRESS reflects the NAME of the picture:
    http://www.goatworld.com/members/sandylogan/kidsgrouppic.jpg

.JPG, .GIF, .BMP, .TIF - are all graphic format extensions that your graphics program assigns to your picture. Whether you use a scanner, digital camera, etc., one of these extensions will be assigned to your picture. It is very important to include these extensions with your picture name. For instance, MYPICTURE.JPG or MYPICTURE.GIF are valid filenames. MYPICTURE itself is not and your picture will not show up! The two most common extensions are .JPG and .GIF with .JPG being the best format for pictures.

3) You're almost ready to add your picture! There is just one more item that you must pay strict attention to before adding your picture(s). This deals with the issue of upper and lowercase filenames. For the most part, use only lowercase filenames. For example:
mypicture1.jpg and not MYPICTURE1.JPG. Some graphic programs will automatically create the filename extension (remember .JPG, .GIF, and so on?). A filename might come out looking like mypicture1.JPG - you will need to change this to all lowercase if it does. The rule of thumb is that as long as everything is the same, you will not be likely to have problems.

4) Okay. You're ready to add your picture. Refer to the table below for the actuall code to include in your message. Should you have problems, you can always email me at gary@goatworld.com and I'll try to help you out.
