520.1696b Penicillin G potassium in drinking water.

Specifications:
When reconstituted, each milliliter contains penicillin G potassium equivalent to 20,000, 25,000, 40,000, 50,000, 80,000, or 100,000 units of penicillin G.

Conditions of use:

Turkeys

Amount:
1,500 000 units per gallon drinking water for 5 days.

Indications:
Treatment of erysipelas caused by Erysipelothrix insidiosa.

Limitations:
Prepare concentrated stock solution for use with medication proportioners fresh every 24 hours. Prepare recommended use levels for gravity flow watering system fresh every 12 hours. For best results, treatment should be started at the first sign of infection. Discontinue treatment at least 1 day prior to slaughter. Not for use in turkeys producing eggs for human consumption.

Penicillin.

Tolerances are established for residues of penicillin and the salts of penicillin in food as follows:
a. In cattle: 0.05 part per million (negligible residue) in the uncooked edible tissues
b. In chickens, pheasants, quail, swine, and sheep: Zero in the uncooked edible tissues
c. In milk or any processed food in which milk has been used: zero
d. In eggs: zero
e. In turkeys: 0.01 part per million in the uncooked edible tissues
