Brooke, if you are going to have a small show string then the Andis marroon clipper works great, you will need to add a surgical blade to the kit, it comes with a #10. With black does we do have to trim about a 2 weeks before a show our the #10 blade scalps them. The Andis are more powerful than the A5's, though all use the same blades. I would be dead without my Sunbeam cattle clippers, big powerful (actually if I have to use my Andis after using my Sunbeams, it is like having a toy in your hand) If money is no object than the Listers are hands down the best clippers! I order mine from Jeffers 1800-jeffers, the livestock or the equine catalogs. Vicki
