Firstly I have to say that I don't know too much about goats, I've just bought my first ones and am learning lots. I do know that pine needles are a big no no with Miniature Horses. They can be toxic to them causing lots of gas. Maybe this is what's happening with your goats if they are in the pasture with the pine trees.
