I bought a doe with horns last summer she was 4 months old her horns were about 3 inches long I borrowed a bander and put bands on them. the first horn dropped about 2 to 3 weeks later the other horn stayed small, it didnt grow like the other one finally the band came off the horn is still there. I decided to try again later.I bought my own bander at Valley Vet.com They were cheaper than all the rest,Ive seen.My mother used to band her goats horns they put them all the way to the hair line if they didnt stay they would file notches in the horn to let the band set in .My doe has 4 bands on that horn its finally starting to cut into the horn she will have a stub.if there is any bleeding when the horn comes off I coat with blu-kote never had a problem yet.
