Hi
Meant to get back to this sooner but more work got in the way.Had an event Wed. when I tried to take Zelda's temp - I lost my thermometer. I'm not completly sure that it's still inside her but I think it might be. Called my vet in a bit of a panic, and he reasured me that she should eventually pass it without difficulty. Zelda seems fine, back in her role of Queen of the bunch.Labia have gone down some but are still swollen. I think the Prep H has helped but I'm not completly sure - I thought it made the area a little more reddened at first. Swelling seems to be going down from the outer edges inward,Inner area still feels like a solid pad under the flesh.
Zelda stared passing a small amount of rusty discharge this morning,up till then I'd only seen a small strand of yellowish pink tinged mucose on Wed.Kids are strong and healthy but still nursing only one side.I'm still milking the other, and it's not getting hard anymore but the nipple is usually blocked, hard to start milking.I find rubbing my thumb lightly across the tip helps start it.Oh yeah, Vicki I'm not sure that she hasen't been swollen since giving birth on Friday,
I thought everything was o'kay and didn't look all that close 'till she went off her feed Monday morning. At this point everthing seems fine, though I feel bad about the thermometer and am still a little worried about it.It's going to be really hard to find if it does pass. Plan to go get a new digital one A.S.A.P.Also - I'd appreciate instructions in worming and imunizing scheduals, I'm way behind with all of it. My first doe kidded Jan.8, and 4 more had kidds between then and the 19th when Zelda had her's.I have 9 yearlings left to kid, hopefully not before the end of February(anything before the end of Feb. is a mistake - got loose and met their Daddy - have had one lovley little pair of boys so far who were not meant to be, and think 2 more of my doelings will also not wait 'till I'd like them to).Can I start now worming those that have already kidded? Does it need to be concidered that I plan to sell my male kids for meat at Easter time? Is there a worming product that I can keep on hand to give single doses of as the rest of them come in? Also think I should be giving tetnus but haven't been.Do I give tetnus to just the moms or do the babies need it too? And why are male kids so much friendlier than the girls...?Please advise -:) Janet
